Masjid-e-Tabuk Refurbishment Appeal

History of Masjid-e-Tabuk

  • Masjid-e-Tabuk was founded in the early 1990's as a Masjid and Madrassa to serve the Muslim community in Evington and surrounding areas
  • In 2000 the current Masjid Umar was opened
  • Masjid-e-Tabuk continued to remain open delivering Childrens Madrassa classes, Hifz academy, Ladies morning classes and Taraweeh prayers
  • Provison of these activities continued from 2000 until the global pandemic in March 2020 placed a temporary hold on activities

Masjid-e-Tabuk today

  • Space for approx. 150 Mussallees
  • 50/60 Madrassa students

Masjid Umar and other buildings today

  • Accommodate approx. 1,500 Mussallees (without social distancing)
  • 800/900 Madrassa students operating at capacity
  • 375 School & Nursery children
  • 150 Ladies morning classes

The current state of Masjid-e-Tabuk

  • The building has deteriorated over the years and is not a conducive environment for children and adult learning
  • The Masjid Commitee has carefully considered many options before arriving at two viable options
    • Option 1:Demolition & new build
    • Option 2:Extensive refurbishment
  • The demolition and new build option will reduce the types of activities and classes we provide today under new build local council planning regulations
  • The refurbishment option will safegaurd the provision of all current activities

Future plans for Masjid-e-Tabuk

  • Madrassa, Hifz and Ilmiyaat classes to meet the growing local demand
  • Currently we have over 300 children on a Madressa waiting list, additional capacity is desperately needed today and into the future
  • Safe and modern Islamic learnng hub to cater for our growing local Muslim community today and for future generations to come
