The Masjid offers the five Daily Prayers (Salaah), Jumuah prayers, and provides facilities for the Madrassah.

Additionally, Masjid Umar welcomes school visits, hosts Nikah ceremonies and offers a variety of classes including those specifically for women.

Previously two residential properties, which were used as a Masjid and Madaressa. In 1999 the properties were demolished and a purpose built masjid erected. The construction funds were donated entirely by the Muslim community with over 95% raised from local Muslims in Leicester

The Masjid was completed in late 2000 and was shortlisted in 2005 for the ACE / RIBA Award for Religious Architecture. It was described as having “presence, integrity and modesty.” The Masjid also won the People’s Choice Project of the Year Award 2003.

Masjid Umar serves a vibrant and diverse Muslim community living in and around the Evington area.
